Do I have to replace my lamps and ballasts?
No, LightBoss® installs by the electrical panel that feeds the lamps. No replacement of lamps or ballasts are necessary.  LightBoss® does not work with electronic ballasts.
Will LightBoss® damage my lights and/or ballasts?
No, in fact, the reduced energy used will actually lengthen the lives of both.  LightBoss® is designed so that the maximum dim rate is 60%, which is set 10% above the 50% minimum voltage level recommended by lamp and ballast manufacturers.
If I install LightBoss® will I be eligible for local electric utility company rebates?
Most likely, the answer is Yes.  Local utilities want to encourage customers to save energy primarily during hours of high demand "Daylight Harvesting" applications and reduced demand controlled by Occupancy Sensors are the most common applications for which rebates are offered.  Rebate programs typically offer $ for each fixture controlled.
Where is LightBoss®manufactured?
LightBoss® is manufactured by AGEX Corp. Flemington, NJ and Milton, Ontario, Canada.  Parts and technical assistance are available from both loctions as well.
Who installs LightBoss®?
Installation should be by a licensed electrical contractor. In addition to a detailed installation manual, AGEX will provide initial phone support for any installation.
Is LightBoss®a "Hi-Low" dimming system?
It can be. However, LightBoss® is the first HID dimming system that offers variable dimming from 100% brightness to 60% brightness.  Lighting can be dimmed in 2.5% increments.
Can I use automatic external devices to control the dimming function?
Yes. LightBoss® up and down control can be initiated by timers, motion detectors, occupancy sensors, photocells, and any combination of these devices.  We offer and sell these devices in complete systems.
If LightBoss® fails will I be without lighting until it is repaired?
No. LightBoss® has built-in technonogy and by-pass circuitry that assures fail-safe operation.  In the event of an internal system problem, the bypass circuitry will provide input line power directly to the lighting circuit.
How long will it take, in energy savings, to pay back my investment in LightBoss®?
Typical Return on Investment [ROI] is less than 24 months.  If you receive energy rebates it is significantly less.
Does LightBoss®introduce any harmonics into the electrical system?
No. Refer to: LightBoss® Harmonic Distortion Testing by using the PDF link
Can LightBoss® be installed outside?
Yes, a variety of Nema approved enclosures are available based on the outside conditions.
Do I have to control LightBoss® at the unit itself?
No, LightBoss® can remote the contol panel up to 200 feet from the unit via cat 5 cable if needed.
Can I use external devices to control LightBoss®?
Yes, LightBoss® can be controlled by timers, motion/occupancy sensors, photocells, daylight harvesting sensors or a combination of these devices
Can I run LightBoss® from my energy management system?
Yes, in the automatic mode, LightBoss® will take a 0-10v, 0-5v or 4-20 milliamp signal from an energy management system. Based on the signal sent, any level can be accessed at any time
Lamps need to start with full power, will LightBoss® accommodate that requirement?
Yes, LightBoss® is equipped with an automatic bypass circuit. Bypass is initiated when Lamps turn on, allowing full power to the lamps during warm up. After warm up, LightBoss® reduces voltage to the lamps based on the customer selected levels.
What happens if LightBoss® detects a fault?
LightBoss®
has complete self diagnostics as well as parameters to check (phase angle etc) to be sure lighting and LightBoss® are operating properly. If a fault is detected, LightBoss® automatically opens the bypass circuit, illuminates the fault light and supplies a fault code on the input screen.
